 Isle of Man Youth Games 2011

A relatively new addition to the international competition schedule, the Youth Games is the Commonwealth Games for the next generation of sporting stars, competitors who are 18 years-old or younger.
 
  The fourth Commonwealth Youth Games will be held in the Isle of Man from Thursday 8th September 2011 to Monday 12th September 2011. If you are an Athlete or other team member there is more information on the Team Wales Zeus website, click on TeamWales2011
  
The sports programme will take place over three days and will include athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, rugby 7s and swimming.
  
Venues

 


Athletics – to be held in the National Sports Centre Athletics Stadium, Douglas, a 400 metre, 6 lane (8 lane straight) fully floodlit synthetic running track overviewed by a 500 seat grandstand.

Boxing – to be held in The Villa Marina, Douglas

Cycling – various courses including part of the world famous TT road racing circuit will be utilised around the island.

Badminton – to be held in the National Sports Centre, Douglas, a 44x36 metre sports hall with ten badminton courts and accommodation for up to 1,000 spectators.

Gymnastics – will be held at both the EllanVannin Gymnastics Club and the Manx Gymnastics Centre of Excellence.

Rugby 7’s – the newly refurbished Bowl, Douglas will play host to the Rugby 7’s tournament.

Swimming – to be held at the National Sports Centre, Douglas, the championship pool has full provision for 25 metre short course competition with 8 full width (2.5 metre wide) lanes and a 1.8 metre uniform depth.

SPORT AGE LIMITS
• Athletics (IAAF) Boys and Girls 16 – 17 (born in 1994 & 1995)
• Badminton (BWF) Men & Women 14 – 18 (born in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 & 1997)
• Boxing (AIBA) Boys 17 – 18 (born in 1993 & 1994)
• Cycling (UCI) Men & Women 17 – 18 (born in 1993 & 1994)
• Gymnastics (FIG) Men 14 – 18 (born in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, & 1997)
   Women 13 – 15 (born in 1996, 1997 & 1998)
• Rugby 7’s (IRB) Men 16 – 18 (born in 1993, 1994, & 1995)
• Swimming (FINA)  Men 15 – 18 (born in 1993, 1994, 1995 & 1996)
   Women 14 – 17 (born in 1994, 1995, 1996 & 1997)
